Unfortunately, I probably eat fast food more than I should – especially during this busy holiday time of year! A misconception about going vegan is that you won’t be able to go out to eat. Although sometimes there legitimately is no option, there are plenty of fast food options when you are in a hurry!
Disclaimer- none of this is healthy but super delicious and makes life so much easier when out with friends!
1. Chipotle - My absolute favorite!! This is one of the easiest places to eat vegan. My order is a salad (No dressing, it has honey in it!) with white rice, black/pinto beans, veggies, sofritas, hot/medium salsa, and corn.
2. Taco Bell - Most convenient and I used this option a TON in college. A lot of Taco Bell’s menu can actually be made vegan, their refried beans are vegan and you can replace the dairy products with pico de gallo! I always order a crunch wrap supreme with beans instead of meat, add potatoes, and switch out cheese/sour cream for pico de gallo.
3. Zoes Kitchen - So many options here that will please anyone! I always get the Hummus and Salad plate (without Feta cheese). It's a healthier meal in terms of fast casual food and tastes great. Although that's my favorite, there are tons of already vegan things such as potato salad, veggie kabobs, lentil soup, rice pilaf, and much more.
4. Panera Bread - Another readily available option. They have a wide variety of bakery items and salads (that can be customized) I love the 10 veggie soup and the Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich (without cheese & change bread). Panera has an area on their website with a complete list of their vegan items to make it even easier.
5. Burger King- Probably the most readily available option, great if you're on a road trip. Burger King recently released the Impossible Burger. There has been some controversy as to whether this burger is totally meat fee since there are recent claims they are cooked right next to the meat patties on the same grill. Such they can be contaminated with meat juices. Burger King’s website says: For guests looking for a meat-free option, a non-broiler method of preparation is available upon request, so be sure to ask when ordering the Impossible Burger – the patty itself is plant based and meat free but the cooking of it might not be done with vegan standards! FYI the fries are vegan (unlike McDonald’s which has beef flavoring added)!
